PM Modi inaugurates historic Kochrab Ashram and Memorial Scheme

Kochrab Ashram: Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a poignant journey to Sabarmati Ashram, where he paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi’s legacy, inaugurated Kochrab Ashram, and launched the Master plan of Gandhi Ashram Memorial. In a moving address, he underscored the enduring relevance of Gandhian principles and the pivotal role of heritage preservation in shaping India’s future.

Addressing the gathering, Prime Minister Modi extolled the vibrancy of Sabarmati Ashram, hailing it as a beacon of Gandhian values and national service. He emphasized the significance of Bapu’s teachings, including truth, nonviolence, and service to the deprived, which continue to inspire millions across the globe.

“Reflecting on the historical significance of the date, Prime Minister Modi commemorated the initiation of the Dandi March on 12th March, a watershed moment in India’s freedom struggle. He lauded the commencement of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav from Sabarmati Ashram, underscoring its role in honoring India’s sacrifices and fostering national unity”.

Prime Minister Modi outlined the monumental achievements of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, including the planting of millions of saplings, the creation of water conservation initiatives, and tributes to freedom fighters. He emphasized the transformative impact of such endeavors, marking a resurgence of national pride and unity akin to India’s independence movement.

Acknowledging Sabarmati Ashram’s neglect over the years, Prime Minister Modi underscored the collective responsibility of all Indians to preserve this invaluable heritage. He praised the cooperation of Ashram dwellers in reclaiming its land and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to restoring its original glory.

“Drawing parallels with other successful heritage restoration projects, Prime Minister Modi highlighted Gujarat’s exemplary contributions, including the rejuvenation of Somnath and Ahmedabad’s recognition as a World Heritage City. He stressed the importance of preserving India’s rich cultural heritage for future generations”.

Prime Minister Modi delineated the government’s efforts towards rural empowerment and self-reliance, inspired by Gandhian principles. He lauded the success of natural farming initiatives and emphasized the role of Khadi in rural livelihoods and the Aatmanirbhar Bharat campaign.

Prime Minister Modi urged active participation in heritage preservation efforts and proposed initiatives to promote cultural awareness among youth. He expressed confidence that Gandhian ideals and inspirational sites like Sabarmati Ashram will continue to guide India’s journey towards prosperity and national resurgence.

The event witnessed the presence of dignitaries including the Governor of Gujarat, Shri Acharya Devvrat, and Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Bhupendra Patel, among others, reaffirming the collective commitment to honoring Mahatma Gandhi’s legacy and preserving India’s cultural heritage.
