On the 19th of January PM Modi took a metro ride from Gundavali to Mogra in Mumbai. He also launched the MUMBAI 1 Mobile App and the National Common Mobility Card (Mumbai 1) and undertook a walkthrough of the Metro Photo Exhibition and 3D Model.

During the metro ride, the Prime Minister interacted with students, daily commuters, and shramjeevis involved in the construction of the metro.

The occasion was graced by the Prime Minister, the Governor of Maharashtra, Shri Bhagat Singh Kohsyari, the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shri Eknath Shine, and the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shri Devendra Fadnavis.

Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister dedicated Mumbai Metro Rail Lines 2A & 7 to the nation, laid the foundation stone for the redevelopment of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, inaugurated 20 Hinduhridaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Aapla Dawakhana sewage treatment plants, and started a road concretization project for around 400 kilometers of roads in Mumbai.

Modi launched the MUMBAI 1 Mobile App and the National Common Mobility Card (Mumbai 1). The app will make it easier to travel, can be displayed on the entry gates of Metro Stations, and supports digital payment to buy tickets through UPI.

Mumbai 1’s National Common Mobility Card will initially be used in metro corridors but can be extended to other modes of mass public transit like local trains and buses later on. The NCMC card will enable quick, contactless, digital transactions, thereby easing the process with a seamless experience; commuters will not need to carry multiple cards or cash.
