Prime Minister Narendra Modi has introduced the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, a rooftop solar scheme offering free electricity to 1 crore households. This initiative, with an investment surpassing Rs. 75,000 crores, seeks to provide up to 300 units of electricity per month to beneficiaries.
In a social media post, PM Modi outlined the scheme’s features, emphasizing substantive subsidies directly credited to bank accounts and concessional bank loans, ensuring no financial burden on citizens. Additionally, a National Online Portal will streamline processes for stakeholders.
To promote grassroots adoption, Urban Local Bodies and Panchayats will be incentivized to encourage rooftop solar installations within their jurisdictions. The scheme is expected to enhance household income, reduce power bills, and stimulate employment opportunities.
PM Modi urges residential consumers, particularly the youth, to participate in the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana by applying through the official website, pmsuryaghar.gov.in. The initiative aims to boost solar power usage, foster sustainable progress, and empower citizens towards a cleaner, greener future.
