Estimated reading time: 2 minutes

India is a rapidly developing nation, and with growth comes the need for a robust and efficient infrastructure. One of the most crucial components of this infrastructure is a well-connected network of roads. Our esteemed Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, has emphasized the importance of building a road infrastructure that is not only cost-effective and sustainable but also adheres to strict timelines and uncompromising standards of quality.

The government’s focus on infrastructure development has resulted in a significant increase in road construction in recent years. The ambitious Bharatmala Pariyojana, launched in 2017, aims to construct 83,677 kilometers of roads by 2023, at an estimated cost of Rs 5.35 lakh crore. This project will also include the development of 24 multi-modal logistics parks, 66 inter-corridor routes, and 116 feeder routes.

The government’s commitment to sustainability is evident in the use of innovative technologies like the use of waste plastic and fly ash in road construction. The use of such materials not only helps in reducing waste but also improves the quality and durability of the roads. Additionally, the government has been promoting the use of electric vehicles and has set a target of achieving 30% electric mobility by 2030.

The government’s emphasis on adhering to strict timelines and quality standards has resulted in the completion of several infrastructure projects within the stipulated time frame. For instance, the construction of the 9.2-kilometer-long Atal Tunnel, the longest highway tunnel in the world, was completed in a record time of ten years.

Apart from enhancing connectivity, robust road infrastructure has numerous economic benefits. It facilitates the movement of goods and services and opens up new markets, leading to increased trade and investment. The government’s focus on infrastructure development is expected to boost the country’s GDP growth and generate employment opportunities, particularly in the construction and logistics sectors.

The government’s focus on building a sustainable, cost-effective, and high-quality road infrastructure is a vital step toward achieving India’s development goals. The efforts made under the leadership of the esteemed Prime Minister Modi are commendable, and it is essential to continue the momentum to realize the full potential of India’s infrastructure.
