On the 3rd of January PM Modi pay homage to the inspiring Savitribai Phule Ji on her birth anniversary. She personifies the indomitable spirit of our Nari Shakti. Hers was a life devoted to educating and empowering women. Equally inspiring is her focus on social reform and community service.

Know About Savitribai Phule:-

Savitribai Phule was an Indian social reformer and educationalist who fought for the emancipation of women and the lower castes in Maharashtra. She played an important and vital role in improving women’s rights in India, along with her husband.

She is a pioneer of India’s feminist movement. In 1848, Savitribai and her husband founded one of the first modern Indian girls’ schools at Bhide Wada in Pune. She worked to abolish discrimination and unfair treatment of people based on caste and gender.

Savitribai and Jyotirao did not have any children of their own. A Brahmin widow’s son, Yashawantrao, was adopted by them is what is said. There is no evidence available yet to support this.

When Yashwant was about to get married, it is said that no one was willing to give him a girl because he was born to a widow. Savitribai arranged for her organization’s worker Dynoba Sasane’s daughter to get married in February 1889.
