PM Modi Pays Homage To Former Prime Minister Morarjibhai Desai.

On the 28th of February PM Modi pays tributes to former Prime Minister Shri Morarjibhai Desai and remembered him for his contribution to India’s freedom struggle and as an outstanding administrator.

Morarji Desai was a prominent Indian politician who served as the Prime Minister of India from 1977 to 1979. He was a man of great integrity, and his contributions to Indian politics are still remembered today.

Morarji Desai was born on February 29, 1896, in the Bulsar district of Gujarat, India. His father was a schoolteacher, and his mother was a homemaker. After completing his education, Morarji Desai began his career as a government servant in the Bombay Presidency. He was a staunch follower of Mahatma Gandhi and actively participated in the Indian independence movement.

In 1930, he was imprisoned for his involvement in the Salt Satyagraha movement. He was later arrested again for his involvement in the Quit India Movement. After India gained independence in 1947, Morarji Desai joined the Indian National Congress and was appointed as the Chief Minister of Bombay State. He served in this position from 1952 to 1956.

Morarji Desai was a man of many talents. He was a staunch supporter of democracy, and his policies reflected this. He served as the Finance Minister of India from 1958 to 1963, during which time he implemented several economic reforms, including the devaluation of the rupee and the introduction of the Income Tax Act.

In 1967, he was appointed as the Deputy Prime Minister of India, and in 1975, he became the Prime Minister of India. He served in this position until 1977 when his government was defeated in the general elections.

During his tenure as the Prime Minister, Morarji Desai implemented several reforms aimed at curbing corruption and promoting economic growth. He also took steps to improve relations with neighboring countries such as Pakistan and Bangladesh.

Morarji Desai was a man of great integrity and was known for his honesty and simplicity. His contributions to Indian politics are still remembered today. He was a strong advocate of democracy and believed in the power of the people. His policies reflected this belief, and he worked tirelessly to ensure that the rights of the people were protected.
