On March 4th, 2023, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi addresses a post-budget webinar focused on infrastructure and investment. The webinar was organized by the Department of Economic Affairs and the National Investment and Infrastructure Fund.
PM Modi emphasized the importance of infrastructure development in driving economic growth and creating job opportunities. He stated that the government has allocated a significant amount of funding for infrastructure projects in the 2023-24 budget, including the creation of a National Infrastructure Pipeline (NIP) with a project pipeline of more than 7,400 projects.
The Prime Minister also highlighted the need for private sector participation in infrastructure development, stating that public-private partnerships can unlock more investment and accelerate the pace of development. He announced that the government is working towards easing regulatory processes and creating a more favorable investment climate to attract private investment in infrastructure.
PM Modi also discussed the government’s efforts to develop India’s logistics and transport sector, including the creation of a National Logistics Policy and a National Master Plan for multimodal connectivity. He emphasized the importance of efficient and cost-effective logistics in reducing transportation costs, improving supply chain efficiency, and boosting exports.
The Prime Minister further added that the government is committed to promoting sustainable infrastructure development and adopting green technologies. He announced the creation of a National Hydrogen Mission, which will focus on developing a roadmap for the production, storage, and utilization of hydrogen as a fuel.
