On the 14th of April Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his warm wishes and hopes for the festival. He highlighted the importance of fostering unity and togetherness in society, especially in these challenging times. The Prime Minister prayed that this occasion would deepen the bonds of togetherness and inspire people to work towards the greater good of society.
“The festival of Baisakhi is celebrated with great enthusiasm and fervor in India, especially in the northern regions. The founding of the Khalsa Panth is commemorated by it and it also signals the start of the Sikh New Year. On this auspicious occasion, people come together to celebrate the harvest season, seek blessings, and strengthen their bonds of unity”.
Significance of Baisakhi:
Baisakhi holds a special significance in Sikhism as it marks the day when the tenth Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh, established the Khalsa Panth in 1699. The Khalsa Panth is a community of devout Sikhs who have taken a sacred oath to uphold the principles of Sikhism and live a life of righteousness.
Apart from its religious significance, Baisakhi also holds great importance as a harvest festival. Farmers across the country celebrate this occasion by offering prayers and thanking God for a bountiful harvest.
