On the 23rd of January Piyush Goyal heartily congratulates PM Narendra Modi for naming the Andaman and Nicobar islands after the 21 Param Vir Chakra awardees, a symbol of India’s pride.
The Andaman and Nicobar islands are a group of islands located in the Bay of Bengal and are a part of the Indian union territory. The Param Vir Chakra is the highest military decoration awarded for acts of valor during wartime. It is awarded to soldiers of the Indian Armed Forces for showing exceptional bravery in the face of the enemy.
‘Naming the Andaman and Nicobar islands after these 21 brave soldiers would be a fitting tribute to their sacrifices and would serve as a reminder to the nation of their valor and courage. It would also be a symbol of India’s pride and honor, as these islands are a part of the country’s territory”.
The islands are strategically located near the Malacca Strait and are of great strategic importance to the country. Renaming them after the Param Vir Chakra awardees would not only pay homage to these brave soldiers but also give a sense of pride and belonging to the Indian armed forces personnel posted in these islands.
Additionally, it would also serve as an inspiration to the younger generations, who would learn about the sacrifices and valor of these soldiers and be motivated to serve the country with the same spirit.
