PM Narendra Modi’s Image Removed from CoWIN Certificates

Estimated reading time: 1 minute

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has decided to remove Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s photo from the CoWIN certificates issued for COVID-19 vaccinations. The certificates used to have pictures of Mr. Modi and a quote saying, “Together, India will defeat COVID-19.” But now, the quote is there without mentioning Mr. Modi’s name.

Social media users were quick to point out this change, which occurred on Wednesday. Previously, Mr. Modi’s photos were also removed from all government websites when the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) was enforced ahead of the general elections.

This isn’t the first time the PM’s image has been removed from CoWIN certificates. Similar actions were taken during State Assembly elections when the MCC was in effect in specific states.

The removal of Mr. Modi’s photo from CoWIN certificates marks a departure from previous practices and has sparked discussions on social media platforms. However, the certificates still carry the message of unity in combating COVID-19, albeit without direct attribution to the Prime Minister.
