Today, June 10, 2024, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Mauritius, Mr. Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, paid a visit to the President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, at Rashtrapati Bhavan. During their meeting, President Murmu fondly recalled her successful state visit to Mauritius in March earlier this year, where she served as the Chief Guest for the National Day celebrations and engaged with Mauritian leadership and citizens.
President Murmu emphasized the strategic importance of Mauritius as a maritime partner for India in the Indian Ocean Region, aligning with Vision SAGAR and India’s commitment to promoting peace, security, and growth in the region.
Both leaders expressed contentment with the substantial advancements made across diverse sectors of bilateral cooperation. They agreed to continue their collaborative efforts to deepen the unique and multifaceted partnership between India and Mauritius. This partnership encompasses diverse areas such as trade, defense, maritime security, cultural exchange, and developmental initiatives.
The meeting between Prime Minister Jugnauth and President Murmu underscores the enduring friendship and strong bilateral ties between India and Mauritius. It reflects the mutual commitment of both nations to further enhance cooperation for the benefit of their peoples and the broader Indian Ocean Region.
