The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, graced the event ‘ASMITA-Inspirational Stories by Army Wives,’ organized by the Army Wives Association (AWWA) in New Delhi today. The event brought to light the extraordinary stories of courage, resilience, and determination exhibited by the ‘Veer Naris’—the brave widows of soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the nation.
Honoring the Unsung Heroes
Speaking at the event, President Murmu expressed profound gratitude to the ‘Veer Naris’ on behalf of the entire Indian populace. She hailed these exceptional women, who have not only endured immense loss but have also emerged as beacons of strength and inspiration. The President acknowledged and celebrated the ‘Veer Naris’ who were being honored as ASMITA Icons, recognizing their unwavering commitment and extraordinary contributions.
AWWA’s Remarkable Efforts
The President also lauded the Army Wives Association (AWWA) for its relentless efforts in championing the cause of the ‘Veer Naris.’ AWWA’s dedication towards the welfare and well-being of these brave women was acknowledged with appreciation by President Murmu. The organization’s commitment to supporting the ‘Veer Naris’ reflects its deep-rooted ethos of compassion and solidarity.
Empowering Women for a Stronger Nation
In her address, President Murmu underscored the pivotal role that women play in shaping the dignity and strength of a society and nation. She highlighted the significance of women’s self-pride and emphasized the importance of evolving with changing times. Drawing from the adage ‘Behind every successful man, there is a woman,’ she proposed a modern revision: ‘Beside every successful man, there is a woman.’
Fostering Identity and Self-Confidence
President Murmu articulated that the identity and self-confidence of women can be further fortified through the embrace of progressive ideas. By shedding outdated notions and adopting new perspectives, women can reclaim their rightful place as equal partners in the journey of nation-building. The President’s words resonated as a call for societal transformation and gender empowerment.
