President Droupadi Murmu’s Official Visit to Andaman and Nicobar Islands

The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, is scheduled to embark on a significant journey to the scenic Andaman and Nicobar Islands from February 19 to 23, 2024. The itinerary for her visit is packed with various engagements aimed at fostering a deeper connection with the region’s history, culture, and people.

February 19:

Upon her arrival, the President will commence her visit by paying homage to the martyrs at the Martyr’s Column, followed by a tour of the iconic Cellular Jail Complex and Museum. She will also have the opportunity to witness the captivating light and sound show at the Cellular Jail, which commemorates the struggles of India’s freedom fighters. Later in the day, a civic reception will be hosted in her honor at the Dr BR Ambedkar Institute of Technology, Port Blair.

February 19:

The following day, the President will explore the natural wonders of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, starting with a visit to Indira Point and Campbell Bay. She will then proceed to Subhash Chandra Bose Island, where she will witness another captivating light and sound show, highlighting the island’s historical significance.

February 21:

On the third day of her visit, the President will engage with the members of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) at Raj Niwas, Port Blair, emphasizing the importance of preserving and uplifting indigenous cultures. Additionally, she will observe an operational demonstration by troops at Radhanagar Beach, gaining insight into the security measures and defense capabilities in the region.

President Smt Droupadi Murmu’s visit to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands is a testament to the government’s commitment to strengthening ties with remote regions and promoting cultural exchange.
