The President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu, inaugurated the Gaj Utsav-2023 at Kaziranga National Park on April 7, 2023. During her speech, she stressed the importance of protecting elephants as part of India’s national responsibility to preserve its heritage. She also highlighted the sacred relationship between nature and humanity and the need for society and the government to work together in conserving natural habitats and keeping elephant corridors free from obstruction. The President also emphasized that the Human-Elephant Conflict is the responsibility of human society, and solving the issues related to it is the aim of Project Elephant.
