President Droupadi Murmu delivered a compelling address at a meeting of the Mahima Cult held at the Mini Stadium in Sambalpur, Odisha, on March 2, 2024. Reflecting on the profound legacy of Santha Kabi Bhima Bhoi, she hailed his teachings as a timeless source of inspiration.
In her speech, President Murmu underscored Bhima Bhoi’s remarkable ability to create profound literature despite lacking formal education, emphasizing his unique insights and enduring verses that continue to resonate today. She highlighted the intrinsic message of social equality and universal ideals embedded in Bhima Bhoi’s works, urging the younger generation to internalize his principles.
The President commended the Mahima Cult, initiated by Mahima Gosein, for its inclusive ethos that transcended caste barriers, attracting followers from diverse backgrounds. Bhima Bhoi’s unwavering commitment to equality and his efforts to propagate the cult’s philosophy through his speeches, songs, and poems were lauded by President Murmu.
Emphasizing the global relevance of Bhima Bhoi’s teachings, President Murmu advocated for the translation of his biography and writings into various languages to reach a wider audience across India and beyond. She stressed the sanctity of saints’ seats and urged individuals to draw inspiration from their ideals for nation-building endeavors.
