President to inaugurate ‘Vividhta ka Amrit Mahotsav’ on February 8, 2024

The eagerly anticipated “Vividhta ka Amrit Mahotsav” is all set to kickstart on February 8, 2024, at 11:15 AM at Amrit Udyan, Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi. President of India, Smt. Drupadi Murmu will inaugurate the four-day cultural extravaganza, which forms an integral part of the Udyan Utsav 2024.

This cultural spectacle, organized by the Ministry of Development of North East Region (DoNER) in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, aims to showcase the rich diversity and heritage of Northeast India. Managed through DoNER’s CPSE, Northeastern Handicrafts & Handlooms Development Corporation Limited (NEHHDC), the event is open to the public from 10 AM to 8 PM, with free entry for all.

The “Vividhta ka Amrit Mahotsav” has been meticulously curated to offer a glimpse into the vibrant tapestry of Northeast India’s cultural mosaic.

  1. Handicrafts, Handlooms, and Agri-Horti Produce: The Mahotsav will feature over 320 weavers, artisans, farmers, and entrepreneurs from the Northeast Region, showcasing their exquisite creations through dedicated stalls for each state. From handcrafted products and textiles to organic agro-products, visitors can explore the unique offerings that define the region’s cultural essence.
  2. Live Demonstrations: Witness the skilled craftsmanship firsthand with over 20 stations offering live demonstrations of traditional art forms and techniques, including mask making, basket weaving, silk extraction, and wood carving, among others.
  3. Cultural Showcase: Immerse yourself in the mesmerizing performances of over 350 artists from all eight states of Northeast India, featuring traditional dances, music, and a first-of-its-kind fashion show highlighting GI products from the region.
  4. Food Stalls: Indulge your taste buds in the diverse culinary delights of Northeast India, with stalls offering a tantalizing array of flavors and dishes representing the region’s rich gastronomic heritage.
  5. Engaging Activities: Explore the Kids Activity Zone and Youth Engagement Zone, offering interactive activities and educational experiences that celebrate the historical and cultural richness of Northeast India.
