On the occasion of the 48th Raising Day of the Indian Coast Guard (ICG), Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended his heartfelt best wishes to all Coast Guard personnel. The Indian Coast Guard, a pivotal maritime law enforcement and search and rescue agency was formally established on February 1, 1977, under the Coast Guard Act, 1978, by the Parliament of India. Operating under the Ministry of Defence, the ICG has jurisdiction over territorial waters, the contiguous zone, and the exclusive economic zone of India.

Prime Minister Modi’s message not only acknowledges the significant milestone of the 48th Raising Day but also underscores the crucial role played by the Indian Coast Guard in safeguarding the nation’s maritime interests.
