Delhi: The Prize Distribution Function for the 16th National Youth Parliament Competition, 2019-20, is set to take place on February 16, 2024, at the GMC Balayogi Auditorium, Parliament Library Building, in New Delhi. Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal, Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Law and Justice; Minister of State in the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs; and Minister of State in the Ministry of Culture, will preside over the function.
This prestigious event will honor prize-winning students and institutions for their remarkable performance in the competition. The Central University of Punjab, Bathinda, which secured the top position at the national level, will present a repeat performance of their ‘Youth Parliament’ sitting, showcasing their exemplary skills and dedication.
Organized by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs for the past 27 years, the Youth Parliament Competitions for Universities/Colleges aim to instill values of self-discipline, tolerance, and democratic ethos among the youth. The scheme acquaints students with parliamentary practices, and debate techniques, and fosters leadership qualities and effective oratory skills.
The coveted ‘Running Shield’ and Trophy for standing first at the National Level will be awarded to the Central University of Punjab, Bathinda. Additionally, Minister Meghwal will present Group level winner trophies to DAV College, Jalandhar; Jadavpur University, Kolkata; University of Mumbai, Mumbai; Chanakya National Law University, Patna; and Shivaji University, Kolhapur, for their outstanding performance in the competition.
The event promises to be a celebration of academic excellence and democratic values, highlighting the importance of youth participation in parliamentary processes and nation-building endeavors.
