Pune Weather Forecast: Heavy Rains to Continue, Red Alert Issued

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Pune and surrounding areas in Maharashtra due to the ongoing heavy rainfall. According to the latest forecast, the Pune weather will continue to be affected by the intense monsoon, with extremely heavy rainfall expected throughout the day.

Senior IMD scientist Naresh Kumar explained that the cyclonic circulation has moved westward, leading to the continuation of heavy rains across Maharashtra, Konkan Goa, and Gujarat on Thursday.

Pune Weather Forecast:

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Maharashtra, including Pune weather, due to extremely heavy rainfall expected today. The cyclonic circulation has shifted westward, leading to significant downpours across the region. Areas in Pune have already experienced waterlogging following torrential rains on Wednesday night, and more rain is forecasted to continue throughout Thursday.

According to Sunil Kamble from the Regional Meteorological Centre in Mumbai, the monsoon is likely to withdraw by October 5, but this date could be extended to October 10 depending on weather conditions. The IMD has been closely monitoring the situation and has adjusted its alerts accordingly. An orange alert was previously issued for Mumbai, but with the intensification of the monsoon, a red alert was declared until 8:30 AM this morning.

In Pune, heavy rainfall has disrupted daily life, leading to blocked streets and public transport delays. The IMD recorded over 200 mm of rain in some areas, prompting warnings for potential hazards such as flash floods and traffic disruptions. As Pune weather continues to be impacted by these conditions, residents are advised to stay updated on the latest forecasts and take necessary precautions.

The heavy rains have caused significant disruptions, with public transport services hit and flights delayed due to the incessant rainfall. However, train and bus services have been restored on Thursday morning as the water has receded in many parts of the city.

As the Pune weather continues to be affected by the intense monsoon, residents are advised to take necessary precautions and follow the instructions provided by local authorities. The IMD will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates on the weather conditions.
