Railway And Metro Projects In West Bengal Launched By PM Modi.

On the 30th of December, “PM Modi today flagged off the Vande Bharat Express connecting Howrah to New Jalpaiguri through video conferencing.PM also inaugurated the Joka-Taratla section of the Joka-Esplanade Metro Project (Purple Line)”.

He also dedicated to the nation four railway projects including Bonchi-Shaktigarh 3rd Line, Dankuni-Chandanpur 4th Line Project, Nimtita-New Farakka Double Line, and Ambari Falakata-New Maynaguri-Gumanihat Doubling Project. The Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone for the renovation of the New Jalpaiguri Railway Station.

Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister apologized for not being physically present today as for him, it is a day to bow down to the land of Bengal as the history of the freedom struggle is embedded in each and every part of Bengal. PM said, “The land from where Vande Mataram was chanted, today flagged off Vande Bharat.

” The Prime Minister recalled that on December 30, 1943, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose hoisted the Tricolor in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and set in movement the wheels for India’s independence”. On the 75th anniversary of this historic day, the Prime Minister mentioned that he had the opportunity to visit the Andamans to name an island in Netaji’s honor.

He further said that India had taken a pledge to start 475 Vande Bharat trains during the celebration of Independence Day and the train leaving Howrah for New Jalpaiguri today is one of them. Mentioning the many projects whose foundation stones are being laid and inaugurated today, the Prime Minister said that the government is spending around Rs 5000 crore to complete these projects.

PM mentioned one of the key projects, the construction of a new airport. A project worth 600 Cr rupees is being established for the cleaning of the Adi Ganga.

PM said that the central government has focussed on prevention which revolves around creating a large number of modern sewage treatment plants, along with cleaning rivers. The requirements of the next 10-15 years are being kept in mind while doing this.

PM also acquaint that he will get the moment to dedicate many projects pertaining to the cleanliness of the Ganga and drinking water to West Bengal later in the day.

He acquaint that more than 25 sewage projects have been approved in West Bengal under the Namami Gange Scheme. Seven projects are being completed today, and 11 projects are already completed. Work on 5 new schemes, with an outlay of Rs 1500 crore, is beginning today. construction of a new airport.

At Howrah Railway Station, the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi flagged off the 7th Vande Bharat Express, connecting Howrah to New Jalpaiguri. The Semi High-Speed Train is equipped with modern passenger amenities. The train will stop at Malda Town, Barsoi, and Kishanganj stations en route in both directions.

The Joka-Taratala Stretch of the Joka-Esplanade Metro Project (Purple Line) was also inaugurated by the Prime Minister. More than Rs 2475 Crore was spent to construct the 6.5 km stretch that has 6 stations: Joka, Thakurpukur, Sakher Bazar, Behala Chowrasta, Behala Bazar, and Taratala. This project’s inauguration will benefit passengers from Sarsuna, Dakghar, Muchipara, and South 24 Parganas in southern parts of Kolkata City immensely.

The nation also dedicated four railway projects to the Prime Minister. The Bianchi – Shaktigarh 3rd Line, the Dankuni – Chandanpur 4th Line Project, the Nimtita – New Farakka Double Line, and the Ambari Falakata – New Maynaguri – Gumanihat Doubling Project were all developed at a cost of more than Rs 405 crore, Rs 565 crore, Rs 254 crore, and Rs 1080 crore, respectively. More than Rs 335 crore will be spent redeveloping the New Jalpaiguri Railway Station, for which the Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone.
