Rajnath Singh Visits Indira Point, The Southern Tip Of The Country.

Andaman & Nicobar (India): On 06 Jan 2023, Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh visits Indira Point, the southernmost tip of the country. He was also accompanied by the Commander-in-Chief, Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Command (CINCAN) Lt Gen Ajay Singh. Shri Rajnath Singh took stock of the defence preparedness and exhorted the troops to continue defending the national interest in the region.

Indira Point is located on the Great Channel, which is a major shipping lane for international traffic. Being a net security provider in the region is a responsibility that is better discharged by India when it has a strong presence in the Armed Forces.

The Raksha Mantri stopped at Car Nicobar Island and Campbell Bay on the way to get an update on the ground conditions. Lauding them for serving the country with unmatched bravery and commitment, he also interacted with the joint services troops of Andaman and Nicobar Command there.

The Defense Minister was familiar with the terrain in the Southern Group of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. He also visited INS Baaz and interacted with the troops.

The Raksha Mantri reviewed the operational preparedness of the Command and infrastructure development at operational areas at the Headquarters of Andaman & Nicobar Command in Port Blair on January 05, 2023.

This is Raksha Mantri’s first visit to Indira Point since January 2019. The Minister of Defense’s visit to the Andaman and Nicobar Command motivated the troops deployed on the remote islands for strategic signaling in view of the proximity of the islands to the Indo-Pacific region. A&N Command is a 21-year-old successful Integrated Theatre Command which is now being planned at the national level.
