Raksha Mantri Emphasizes the Vitality of Human Qualities in the Age of AI during NCC Republic Day Camp

Addressing NCC cadets at the Republic Day Camp in Delhi Cantt. on January 20, 2024, Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh highlighted the significance of creativity, interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, and sensitivity in ensuring employability and relevance in the current era dominated by machines and artificial intelligence. Singh commended the NCC for cultivating these qualities in cadets, preparing them for comprehensive leadership of the next generation.

Expressing insights on the growing influence of artificial intelligence, Singh predicted a shift towards careers in sectors where machines cannot replicate human capabilities. He emphasized the irreplaceable aspects of human ingenuity, consciousness, and interpersonal skills, underscoring the NCC’s pivotal role in this context.

Singh acknowledged the NCC’s efforts in fostering holistic development, making cadets physically, mentally, and emotionally robust, and instilling patriotism. He stressed the importance of integrating these qualities with academic pursuits for the cadets to contribute wholeheartedly to the nation’s progress.

During the event, Shri Rajnath Singh conferred the Raksha Mantri Padak and Commendation Cards to outstanding NCC cadets. The Raksha Mantri Padaks were awarded to Senior Under Officer Makkatira Kalpana Kuttappa and Junior Under Officer Dechen Chuskit, while the Commendation Cards went to Under Officer Amar Morang and Senior Under Officer Jyotirmaya Singh Chauhan.

Singh described the Investiture ceremony as an exemplary demonstration of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat,’ featuring cadets from different regions. The NCC cadets showcased their talents in a colorful cultural program, earning praise from the Raksha Mantri for their exceptional performance.

Beforehand, Shri Rajnath Singh inspected a remarkable ‘Guard of Honour’ by cadets representing the Army, Navy, and Air Force wings of the NCC. The Scindia School, Gwalior, presented a band performance. Singh also visited the Flag Area of 17 NCC Directorates, exploring various social awareness themes, and toured the ‘Hall of Fame,’ showcasing NCC’s achievements over the past 75 years. DG NCC Lt Gen Gurbirpal Singh and other senior officials from NCC and the Ministry of Defence attended the occasion.
