REC Limited, a prominent Maharatna CPSE in the power sector, organized a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Symposium at its Gurugram headquarters on December 21, 2023. The symposium aimed to commemorate the 10-year milestone of REC Foundation, the dedicated CSR arm of REC Limited.
The event was attended by Shri Vivek Kumar Dewangan, CMD, REC Ltd., along with directors, independent directors, senior officers from REC’s Regional Offices, and key stakeholders of REC Foundation. The symposium served as a platform to reflect on the achievements of REC’s CSR activities over the past decade, shed light on renewed focus areas, identify challenges in project implementation, and discuss strategies to accelerate CSR programs.
“REC Foundation, with a deep commitment to CSR, has been instrumental in supporting over 400 projects across various domains, including Health, Sanitation, Safe Drinking Water, Education, Skill Development, Women Empowerment, and Environmental Sustainability. The foundation has disbursed more than Rs. 1,300 Crore and sanctioned over Rs. 2,000 Crore towards CSR initiatives, contributing significantly to societal well-being”.
The symposium agenda included presentations on the achievements of the REC Foundation, a screening of a CSR film, and discussions on strategies to enhance the impact of CSR initiatives. Shri Dewangan expressed gratitude to the CSR committee members, emphasizing the collaborative effort needed to identify and implement projects that benefit diverse segments of society.
Shri Dewangan stated, “We are looking forward to partners who would be a part of our CSR programs and take it forward. The event would help in identifying and implementing projects that benefit all segments of society.”
The symposium provided a platform for REC to engage with stakeholders, share insights, and foster partnerships for the successful implementation of future CSR projects. REC Limited, established in 1969, has a loan book exceeding Rs. 4.74 Lakh Crore, and its CSR initiatives underscore the organization’s commitment to contributing to the holistic development of the communities it serves.
