In a surprising move, the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in Delhi has announced an unprecedented restriction on flight movements from January 19 to January 26, 2024. No flights will operate between 10:20 am and 12:45 pm IST during this period, marking a significant interruption for travelers.
The announcement, made on Friday by the Delhi Airport authorities, cited the upcoming 75th Republic Day celebrations as the reason for this temporary suspension. The restriction is strategically imposed to ensure the smooth execution of Republic Day events, with no arrivals or departures during the specified time frame.
Official Advisory to Passengers
Passengers planning to travel during this period are strongly advised to check and reconfirm their flight schedules. The airport authorities emphasize the importance of meticulous planning, considering the flight freeze that will be in effect. Travelers should plan to arrive or depart outside the restricted hours to avoid any inconvenience.
The advisory, posted on the official Delhi Airport website, states, “Given Republic Day celebrations, no flights will arrive or depart from Delhi Airport between 10:20 am and 12:45 pm IST from January 19 to January 26, 2024.” This clear communication aims to ensure that passengers are well-informed and can adjust their plans accordingly.
Republic Day Celebrations: A Grand Spectacle
