Revised Counting Schedule: The Election Commission of India, through its recent Press Note No. ECI/PN/23/2024 issued on March 16, 2024, has announced the schedule for the upcoming General Elections to the Legislative Assemblies of Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim, along with the General Election to Lok Sabha-2024 and various State Legislative Assemblies.

According to the press note, the polling for both Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim will be held on April 19, 2024, with the counting of votes scheduled for June 4, 2024.

In compliance with the constitutional provisions and the Representation of the People Act, 1951, the Election Commission is tasked with conducting the elections to the Legislative Assemblies of Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim before the cessation of their terms. The term of the Legislative Assemblies of both states is set to expire on June 2, 2024.

To ensure the completion of elections before the expiry of terms, the Commission has decided to amend the schedule for the General Election to the State Legislative Assemblies of Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim. As per the revised schedule, the counting of votes will now take place on June 2, 2024, instead of June 4, 2024, and the election process will be completed by June 2, 2024, instead of June 6, 2024.

It’s important to note that there will be no changes in the schedule for the Parliamentary Constituencies of Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim.

With these announcements, the Election Commission aims to ensure the smooth conduct of elections in Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim, maintaining the integrity and transparency of the democratic process.
