Manufacturing Mission and New Economic Opportunities
Highlighting the recently announced Manufacturing Mission in the Union Budget, Prime Minister Modi reaffirmed the government’s strong commitment to advancing the ‘Make in India’ initiative. He emphasized that the mission aims to promote globally competitive products, strengthen MSMEs, and create new employment opportunities across the nation.
Shri Modi also highlighted impressive growth in traditional sectors:
- Record-breaking production and exports in the automobile and footwear industries
- Khadi and Village Industries achieving a turnover of ₹1.70 lakh crore, creating millions of jobs, especially in rural areas
- Inland Water Transport sector growing from moving 18 million tons of cargo pre-2014 to over 145 million tons today
- National Waterways expansion from 5 to over 110, opening new logistics and employment avenues
These achievements, he noted, are not isolated but interconnected efforts aimed at creating a self-reliant and robust economy, offering abundant opportunities to India’s youth.
WAVES 2025: Unleashing India’s Digital Talent
The Prime Minister announced that Mumbai will soon host the World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES) 2025, with a special focus on young creators in the media, gaming, and entertainment industries.
This international summit will offer budding innovators access to investors, industry veterans, and workshops on emerging technologies like AI, XR, and immersive media. PM Modi expressed hope that WAVES 2025 would ignite India’s digital content revolution and position Indian youth as global leaders in the entertainment and tech sectors.
Empowering Women and Strengthening Rural India
Shri Modi proudly highlighted the government’s dedication to women’s empowerment, noting that women are making remarkable strides in diverse fields, from bureaucracy to space sciences. He emphasized:
- Self-Help Groups (SHGs): Over ninty lakh groups involving 10 crore women
- Drone Didis: Thousands of women employed in advanced agricultural practices
- Startup Ecosystem: 50,000+ startups led by women entrepreneurs
- Collateral-free loans: Empowering rural women entrepreneurs with access to loans of up to ₹20 lakh.
