The Central Water Commission has issued an alarming flood forecast for Katihar district in Bihar, underscoring the critical situation along the River Mahananda at Jhawa. Despite a steady trend in water levels, the river continues to flow at a severe level, prompting concerns among authorities and residents.
As per the latest report, the River Mahananda at Jhawa is recorded at a level of 31.57 meters. While the steady trend may provide some relief, it is important to note that the river remains 0.17 meters above its danger level, which is set at 31.4 meters.
The persistent severity of the flood situation warrants ongoing vigilance and preparedness in the region. Local authorities, disaster management teams, and residents are urged to stay vigilant and take necessary precautions to ensure the safety of lives and property.
As the monsoon season continues to bring rainfall and potential risks of flooding, timely monitoring and effective response measures are crucial to mitigate the impact and provide assistance to those affected.
