The Central Water Commission’s official flood forecast has once again brought attention to the ongoing severe flood situation in Supaul district, Bihar. The River Kosi at Birpur is registering alarming water levels, and the situation remains critical.
According to the latest data, the River Kosi at Birpur is flowing at a level of 74.92 meters, which is a cause for significant concern as it is 0.22 meters above its danger level of 74.7 meters. This indicates that the region is facing a severe flood situation, with water levels continuing to rise.
The persistence of the severe flood situation underscores the challenges and hardships faced by the residents of the affected areas. Flooding can result in the displacement of communities, damage to homes and infrastructure, and the loss of vital resources.
“Efforts to manage and mitigate the impact of these floods include early warning systems, evacuation plans, and relief measures. Government agencies, local authorities, and relief organizations are working tirelessly to provide assistance and support to those affected by these recurring floods”.
It is crucial for residents of flood-prone areas to stay informed and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety during these challenging times.
