The Central Water Commission’s official flood forecast has sounded a warning for Bihar’s Muzaffarpur district, as the River Bagmati at Benibad remains in a severe flood situation. This critical situation demands immediate attention as the river’s water levels continue to rise, surpassing its danger level.
As per the most recent report, the River Bagmati at Benibad is currently flowing at a level of 48.82 meters, and the trend indicates a steady rise. This elevation places the river at a concerning 0.14 meters above its established danger level of 48.68 meters. This escalation highlights the urgency of the flood situation in the region.
In light of this development, local authorities and relevant agencies are likely to be on high alert, devising strategies to address the potential consequences of rising water levels. Flood management measures, evacuation plans, and relief efforts could be swiftly implemented to mitigate the impact of the escalating flood situation.
“The state of Bihar, prone to seasonal flooding due to its geographical layout and monsoon dynamics, has faced similar challenges before. With the River Bagmati’s water levels exceeding the danger mark, residents in vulnerable areas are advised to exercise caution and adhere to official directives”.
