Union Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, visited his parliamentary constituency Vidisha on Sunday and chaired a key District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting in Raisen. The session focused on evaluating the implementation of central welfare schemes and discussing critical public issues.

A significant portion of the meeting addressed rising concerns over black marketing and counterfeit fertilisers. Shri Chouhan, emphasizing its impact on farmers, said, “Selling fake fertiliser is a grave sin – take strict action against offenders.” He called for strict enforcement against such malpractices and obtained detailed, scheme-wise updates from the agriculture department. He also inquired about ‘moong’ procurement and ordered regular inspections at centers to ensure transparency.

During the review of the PM Awas Yojana (Gramin) and Awas Plus, the Minister insisted that installments be released on time and construction monitored closely to avoid delays or negligence. In FY 2024–25, 27,981 homes were approved in the district, with 4,825 already completed.

The district’s progress under the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM) was another key highlight. Shri Chouhan was informed that 43,613 women had become Lakhpati Didis—self-sustaining entrepreneurs earning at least ₹1 lakh annually. He stressed expanding this initiative by empowering more women with skill training and financial support.

On infrastructure, the Minister reviewed developments under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY). He directed officials to ensure every village is connected to main roads, enhancing access to services and mobility. Under the 2024–25 plan, 30 roads (276.236 km) and 13 bridges were sanctioned, with 28 roads and 9 bridges completed.

Agriculture officers were instructed to conduct regular crop inspections and educate farmers on the use of approved pesticides, especially after Basmati rice from the region was rejected abroad due to banned chemicals. He also emphasized using Krishi Vigyan Kendras to share updated agricultural knowledge.

In the review of water resources, the Minister demanded timely completion of reservoir and pond-related projects, especially under the Jal Jeevan Mission, to ensure tap water for every household. Additionally, progress under the Energy Department was reviewed, with directives to expedite work on ongoing electricity substations.

Concluding the session, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan urged public representatives and officials to transform Raisen into a model district by ensuring timely implementation of schemes, prioritizing public welfare, and actively engaging with citizens. “Work with a clear focus on development and the well-being of the people,” he emphasized.
