In a significant diplomatic development, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi had a telephone conversation today with the President of the Russian Federation, H.E. Mr. Vladimir Putin. The leaders engaged in a comprehensive review of progress on various fronts, building on the momentum created by recent high-level exchanges between the two nations.
The discussions primarily centered on bilateral cooperation, and both leaders expressed satisfaction with the positive developments in their relations. Recognizing the strategic significance of the India-Russia partnership, they agreed to develop a roadmap for future initiatives that would further fortify the Special & Privileged Strategic Partnership between the two countries.
The leaders also delved into regional and global issues of mutual interest, showcasing the depth and breadth of their diplomatic engagement. The exchange of views on these matters underscored the shared commitment to addressing global challenges collaboratively.
Prime Minister Modi took the opportunity to extend his best wishes to President Vladimir Putin for Russia’s upcoming Presidency of BRICS in 2024. He assured the Russian President of India’s full support during this tenure, emphasizing the importance of collective efforts within the BRICS framework.
The telephone conversation concluded with both leaders expressing their commitment to maintaining regular communication. This reaffirms the strong bond between India and Russia and emphasizes their shared commitment to fostering a relationship that is not only strategic but also rooted in mutual respect and understanding.
