On the 5th of May On the occasion of Major Hoshiar Singh Dahiya’s birth anniversary, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna paid tribute to the brave soldier. Khanna recognized the immense contributions and sacrifices made by Major Dahiya during the 1971 war and expressed gratitude for his service to the nation.
Major Hoshiar Singh Dahiya’s sacrifice and bravery have been a source of pride and inspiration for the country. He was born on May 5, 1936, in a small village in Haryana. In 1957, he joined the Indian Army and was commissioned into the 3 Grenadiers Regiment. During the 1971 India-Pakistan war, Major Dahiya led his troops in the battle of Basantar in the Shakargarh sector. Despite being outnumbered and outgunned, he displayed extraordinary courage and leadership, leading his men to victory.
