Noida is a city in Uttar Pradesh, India. It is a part of the National Capital Region and is a part of the Delhi metropolitan area. The city is a major commercial and industrial center in northern India. It is also the headquarters of the Noida Metro Rail Corporation.
Noida is connected to Delhi by the Noida-Delhi Metro.
The city was founded on 17 November 1976 as part of a new industrial township, under the jurisdiction of the then Union Territory of Delhi. The city’s initial name was Noida. On 9 August 1977, the city was granted municipal corporation status, and it was renamed to Greater Noida.
Noida is located in the Gautam Buddh Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh, and is situated in the National Capital Region of India. It is bounded by the Delhi districts of South and West to the north, by the Uttar Pradesh districts of Gautam Buddha Nagar to the east and Faridabad to the south.
