In a somber turn of events, the founder-leader of the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) party and renowned Tamil actor, Vijayakanth, breathed his last in Chennai on Thursday at the age of 71. Earlier in the day, the party conveyed the distressing news via its official channels, revealing that Vijayakanth had been hospitalized and placed on ventilator support due to respiratory issues.
The demise of this multifaceted personality marks the end of an era, as Vijayakanth, fondly known for his contributions to both the Tamil film industry and politics, leaves behind a legacy that resonates with many.
Following his passing, Vijayakanth’s mortal remains were brought to his residence and are slated to be transported to the DMDK office shortly. The news of his demise has sent shockwaves through the Tamil film and political fraternity, as the charismatic actor-turned-politician’s influence extended far beyond the silver screen.
