Indian actress Huma Qureshi recently took to Instagram to share the official trailer of her upcoming biopic film, “Tarla.” The over-two-minute trailer showcases the inspiring journey of renowned Indian chef Tarla Dalal. Portraying the role of Tarla is Huma Qureshi herself, while Sharib Hashmi portrays her husband in the film. The trailer also offers a glimpse into Tarla’s personal life, featuring her husband and family. Throughout the trailer, Tarla expresses her desire to accomplish “something” in her life but struggles to find her true passion.
After more than a decade of marriage and becoming a mother, Tarla discovers her love for cooking. She transitions from being an amateur cook to a professional one, eventually establishing her own cooking classes and appearing on television shows. Directed by Piyush Gupta and produced by Ronnie Screwvala, Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, and Nitesh Tiwari, “Tarla” showcases the remarkable journey of a woman who follows her passion and achieves success. The film is set to premiere on ZEE5 on July 7.
Tarla Dalal, the subject of the biopic, was a prominent Indian food writer, chef, cookbook author, and host of cooking shows. In 2007, she became the first Indian to receive a Padma Shri, a prestigious award recognizing her culinary skills. Her “desi Nuskhe” (home remedies) are still widely discussed in Indian households and are often credited with revolutionizing vegetarian cuisine in India.
