In a significant event that underlines the government’s commitment to healthcare development in Bihar, Tejashwi Yadav, a prominent political leader, participated in the 8th convocation of the Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS). During this event, he interacted with doctors, professors, and the academic community, addressing several critical aspects of healthcare and medical education.
One of the key highlights of the convocation was the felicitation of students who had successfully completed their studies. MBBS, PG, and PhD students received their hard-earned degrees, with the top performers receiving prestigious gold medals. This recognition not only acknowledges their academic excellence but also serves as a source of inspiration for the next generation of healthcare professionals.
“Tejashwi Yadav used the occasion to shed light on the transformative changes taking place in healthcare services and facilities across Bihar. He made a noteworthy announcement that resonated with the masses: the government’s commitment to providing free medicines to all patients at IGIMS. This initiative aims to ensure that the underprivileged sections of society benefit significantly from the government’s public welfare programs”.
In his address, Tejashwi Yadav stressed the importance of the doctor-patient relationship. He urged doctors to treat each patient as if they were a member of their own family, emphasizing the significance of polite and empathetic behavior. He underscored that patients and their families often remember a doctor not for their income or the size of their clinic but for their conduct, behavior, and quality of care provided.
“Furthermore, Tejashwi Yadav shared plans for the future development of IGIMS. He announced the construction of a state-of-the-art auditorium with a capacity exceeding 500, which will further enhance the institute’s capabilities for academic and research activities. Additionally, he committed to allocating Rs 27.50 crore for expanding the pediatrics department to accommodate 125 beds, along with the development of neurosurgery and critical care units”. These investments signify a commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure and services in Bihar, ultimately benefiting the people of the state.
The 8th convocation of IGIMS served as a platform to celebrate academic achievements, but it also became a stage for highlighting the government’s vision for healthcare in Bihar. Tejashwi Yadav’s announcements and words of wisdom underscored the importance of accessible healthcare, compassionate medical practice, and continuous development in medical education and facilities. These efforts are poised to make a positive impact on the healthcare landscape of the state, ensuring a healthier and brighter future for all its residents.
