Tejashwi Yadav: Increase in incentive amount for Asha workers in Bihar

Estimated reading time: 2 minutes

In a significant move aimed at recognizing the invaluable contributions of ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activist) workers, Tejashwi Yadav, a prominent leader in Bihar, has announced that the state government will increase the incentive amount provided to these dedicated healthcare providers. The incentive amount, which was previously ₹1,000, will now be raised to ₹2,500.

ASHA workers play a pivotal role in the healthcare system, serving as the bridge between communities and formal healthcare services. Their tireless efforts in delivering healthcare services at the grassroots level have been indispensable, particularly during the ongoing pandemic.

“In addition to this significant announcement, Tejashwi Yadav has written to the Union Health Minister, drawing attention to the pressing issue of inflation and the need for further increases in incentives for ASHA workers. He emphasizes that the rising cost of living, coupled with the existing disparities in incentive rates for various items under the National Health Mission (NHM), necessitates urgent action”.

“The demand for increased incentives for ASHA workers reflects the broader recognition of the challenges they face and the importance of their role in strengthening healthcare delivery in the state. It also highlights the need for concerted efforts at both the state and national levels to ensure that healthcare workers are adequately compensated for their dedication and hard work”.
