The Gujarat Assembly elections 2022 schedule will be announced by the Election Commission of India (ECI) at 12 pm on Thursday. The poll panel had announced the date for the Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections earlier this month. The state hill will vote on November 12 and the counting for the votes will take place on December 8.
The EC had clearly hinted that the results of both states—Gujarat and Himachal will be declared on the same day, December 8, while announcing the poll schedule for Himachal. In 2017, the election dates for both states were announced separately but the counting of votes took place simultaneously on December 18.
This led to much speculation in the political circles of Gujarat. The BJP, which has been in power in the state for several years, is facing a tough challenge from Congress. The latter has been gaining momentum in the state in the last few years and is hoping to unseat the BJP in the upcoming elections.
