A strong and healthy relationship is something that doesn’t happen overnight. It takes time, efforts, and commitments from both partners to make it work. While there are many factors that can contribute to a thriving relationship, there are also several factors that can affect relationship in a negative way. Here are seven of them:

1. Communication

Communication is a key component to any relationship. It is the means by which we share our thoughts, feelings, and experiences with others. In a relationship, effective communication is essential for establishing trust, intimacy, and closeness. Poor communication can lead to misunderstandings, resentment, and conflict.

There are many several ways to communicate with your partner. Some couples prefer to talk out their issues face-to-face, while others may prefer to communicate through text or email. It is important to find a communication style that works for both of you.

Some tips for improving communication in your relationship include:

– Listening to your partner without interrupting

– Asking questions to clarify what your partner is saying

– Expressing your feelings and thoughts in a clear and concise way

– Resolving conflicts in a constructive way

2. Sex affects relationships

A lack of sex is one of the biggest reasons that relationships don’t last. Although sex is a small part of relationships, it helps to keep the romance alive.

The less sex you have, the less attractive your partner may seem to you. This will affect the longevity of relationships! There will, of course, be times when you may not feel like having sex, particularly after childbirth.

This is something that happens frequently with couples. Lack of affection/flirting, exhaustion and stress, emotional distance, a long to-do list and feeling unappreciated are the top passion killers in relationships.

3. Listen

When both people feel heard, it ensures that relationships stand the test of time. If you become too comfortable in your relationship, you may start to take your partner for granted and stop listening to them. Although you may feel like you have heard it all before, showing real interest in each other is what keeps relationships strong. You should talk less and listen more! The other person feels cared for when you listen.

4. Relationships need Forgiveness

Everyone makes mistakes, and there will be times where you’ll disappoint each other. It is essential that you are able to let each other down and forgive those things. All relationships have this happen.

Any perceived wrongs should be discussed in order to maintain a healthy relationship. Admit your mistakes, learn from them, and move on. Relationships where forgiveness is chosen over being right stand the test of time. If there are big issues, you may need help dealing with them, but for the minor ones, forgive your partner and move on.
