The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for several states in eastern India, forecasting thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds in isolated areas over the next 2-3 hours. The states likely to be affected include Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Assam, and Meghalaya.
Residents and authorities in these regions are advised to take necessary precautions to minimize risks associated with severe weather conditions. This includes staying indoors, avoiding open areas, and taking shelter in sturdy structures if thunderstorms approach. Additionally, people are urged to unplug electronic devices and avoid using landline phones during thunderstorms to reduce the risk of lightning-related accidents.
