Based in Kolkata, Tota Roy Chowdhury is an Indian actor and martial artist. He predominantly appears in Bengali and Hindi cinema. He has played notable roles, such as Feluda in the web TV series Feluda Pherot based on Satyajit Ray’s Feluda series.
He made his film debut in Prabhat Roy’s National Award-winning Bengali film Lathi (1996). He won a National Award for his role in Rituparno Ghosh’s Bengali film Chokher Bali (2003).
Early life:
He was preparing for the CDS exams during his second year in college when he was asked by the director Prabhat Roy to play a small role in his film, so he made up his mind to join the Indian Army. He soon decided to become a professional actor after that one film brought him other offers. He was cast opposite Nandita Das in Rituparno Ghosh’s film Shubho Mahurat after starring in a few commercially successful films.
