Train Accident: A distressing incident unfolded in Jharkhand as two individuals lost their lives after being struck by a train while walking along the tracks. The Railway authorities confirmed the tragic occurrence involving train number 12254 within the Asansol division of the Eastern Railway (ER). The victims, who were not passengers but pedestrians, succumbed to injuries sustained from the collision with a MEMU train on the upline.
The incident transpired at approximately seven o’clock when the train was passing through Vidyasagar Kasitar. In response to the accident, a three-member committee from the Jharkhand Accident Group (JAG) has been constituted to investigate the circumstances leading to the unfortunate event.
The Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Asansol shed light on the chain pulling incident, attributing it to flying dust caused by the arrival of the downline Ang Express. As some passengers disembarked due to the dust, subsequent events unfolded, culminating in the tragic accident approximately five hundred meters ahead of the initial train’s location.
Speaking on behalf of the administration, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Jamtara, Ananth Kumar, provided insights into the incident. He recounted how the passenger train had come to a halt near the Kalajharia railway gate, leading to a temporary disembarkation of some passengers. Tragically, during this interval, reports emerged of individuals being injured after being hit by an oncoming train. Search operations ensued, resulting in the recovery of two bodies.
In response to the tragic event, authorities have urged the Railways to establish a helpline number for assistance. Additionally, medical personnel have been stationed at nearby hospitals to provide prompt treatment to injured individuals and inform their families accordingly.
As investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the Train accident, authorities emphasize the importance of adhering to safety protocols and exercising caution while navigating railway tracks to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
