Twinkle Khanna, the first of two daughters of veteran Hindi film actors Dimple Kapadia and Rajesh Khanna, was born on 29 December in Mumbai.
Her maternal grandfather, Chunnibhai Kapadia, was a Gujarati businessman, and her father, Rajesh Khanna, was born in Punjabi Khatri in Amritsar, Punjab and was from a family of railway contractors. She adored her mother’s side of the family, which included her aunt Simple Kapadia, an actress and costume designer. Her sister, Rinke Khanna, and her aunt, Karan Kapadia, have also acted in films.
Twinkle made her acting debut with the film Barsaat (1995). She has since appeared in numerous films such as Jab Pyaar Kisise Hota Hai (1998), Jodi No. 1 (2001) and Love Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega (2001).
In recent years, Twinkle has become known for her witty and humorous writing. She has written columns for various publications such as The Times of India and Femina. Her first book, Mrs Funnybones, was published in 2015 and was a bestseller.
