The UK government has recently launched a new campaign aimed at empowering social tenants to make complaints about their living conditions. This initiative seeks to ensure that tenants of social housing have a voice and can hold their landlords accountable for poor living conditions.
The new campaign, entitled “Make Things Right,” provides social housing tenants with easy-to-use tools to make complaints about issues such as dampness, faulty heating, and poor repair work. The campaign will also provide guidance on how to escalate complaints to regulatory bodies, such as the Housing Ombudsman, if necessary.
The launch of the campaign comes in response to concerns raised by social housing tenants, who have reported feeling powerless to address issues with their living conditions. Many tenants have also reported feeling intimidated by their landlords and fear retaliation if they make a complaint.
