Union Health Minister Launches AYUSH-ICMR Advanced Centre at AIIMS, Announces Joint Initiatives

Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, unveiled the AYUSH-ICMR Advanced Centre for Integrated Health Research at AIIMS, marking a significant step towards integrating traditional AYUSH practices with modern medical science. The inauguration was accompanied by the announcement of several joint initiatives between the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Ministry of AYUSH.

Expressing his enthusiasm for these collaborative efforts, Dr. Mandaviya emphasized the importance of collaborative research in AYUSH, highlighting its role in bridging the gap between traditional knowledge and modern scientific research. He emphasized that Ayurveda is deeply ingrained in Indian culture and heritage, and strategic collaborations aim to advance integrative health research, integrating traditional AYUSH practices with modern medical science.

Dr. Mandaviya underscored the government’s integrative approach to healthcare, leveraging the best practices from both Ayurveda and Allopathy. He highlighted the publication of Indian Public Health Standards (IPHS) for AYUSH healthcare facilities, aiming to improve the quality of healthcare delivery across the country.

The Union Health Minister congratulated the Ministry of AYUSH for its remarkable journey over the last decade, resulting in significant initiatives and achievements. He urged students to draw inspiration from ancient scriptures and embrace traditional practices with pride.

Additionally, Dr. Mandaviya announced a multicenter clinical trial on anemia, aimed at evaluating the efficacy and safety of Punarnavadi Mandura and Drakshavaleha compared to iron-folic acid in treating moderate iron deficiency anemia among non-pregnant women.

The launch of Indian Public Health Standards for AYUSH healthcare facilities aims to establish uniform standards and quality infrastructure, facilitating the extension of quality AYUSH healthcare services to the population. The Union Health Minister emphasized the importance of uncompromising quality in healthcare delivery, aligning with the principles of the National Health Policy.

The event also witnessed the inauguration of the 27th convocation of Rashtriya Ayurveda Vidyapeeth and the 29th National Seminar on ‘Ayurveda Amritanam,’ focusing on Ayurveda for One Health, post-Covid health management, and immunity through Ayurveda. Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary of the Ministry of AYUSH, and other dignitaries graced the occasion, reflecting the collaborative efforts towards advancing healthcare in India.
