In light of the prevailing COVID-19 situation and the remarkable achievements in global COVID-19 vaccination coverage, the Union Health Ministry has announced further relaxation of guidelines for international travelers. These new guidelines, effective from 0000 Hrs (IST) on 20th July 2023, eliminate the previous requirement for RT-PCR testing of a random 2% subset of international travelers to India.
The move reflects the positive strides made in combating the pandemic and the increasing confidence in global vaccination efforts. With vaccination coverage expanding worldwide, the need for random RT-PCR testing has been deemed unnecessary for international travelers entering India.
While the testing requirement has been lifted, the Health Ministry emphasizes that precautionary measures related to COVID-19, as advised earlier, must still be followed by both airlines and international travelers. These measures ensure the ongoing safety of all parties involved and help mitigate any potential risks associated with the virus.
