Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for various projects in Mana, Uttarakhand, underscoring the significance of heritage and development as the pillars of a developed India in the 21st century. Union Minister for Communications, Railways, and Electronics & IT, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, and Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami joined forces to launch the 200,000th 5G site at Gangotri and dedicated fiber connectivity at Chardham, marking a significant milestone in the country’s telecom revolution. Several senior officials from both the Central and State Governments also participated in person and virtually.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the two major pillars of a developed India: pride in the country’s rich heritage and relentless efforts towards development. He highlighted the significance of Uttarakhand in strengthening both these pillars and furthering the vision of a prosperous nation.

5G Revolution in Uttarakhand: Rapid Deployment and Connectivity

Since the launch of 5G services on October 1, 2022, India has witnessed a remarkable achievement in the deployment of 5G infrastructure. Within just eight months, 200,000 5G sites have been installed, covering 700 districts across all 28 states and 8 Union Territories. This rapid rollout positions India among the fastest countries in the world to adopt 5G technology.

Enhanced Connectivity in Chardhams: A Boost for Pilgrims and Disaster Management

The Chardhams – Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri – are now equipped with 5G mobile coverage, ensuring seamless connectivity for pilgrims visiting these sacred sites. Moreover, fiber connectivity has been dedicated to Chardham, enabling high-speed internet access and supporting disaster management and real-time surveillance in mountainous regions. The development will also improve voice and video call quality for pilgrims and locals, even with high footfall.

India’s Technological Leadership: Patents in 6G and Global Recognition

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, India is witnessing a telecom revolution. The 5G rollout, with one site being installed per minute, showcases India’s technological prowess. The country has already secured over 100 patents in 6G technology, demonstrating the innovative capabilities of Indian engineers and researchers.
