Former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, popularly known as KCR, faced a health setback following a fall and subsequent fracture on Thursday. The 68-year-old leader underwent a Total Left Hip Replacement surgery on Friday at Yashoda Hospital in Hyderabad, successfully coming through the planned operation.
A team of senior orthopedic surgeons, supported by other medical professionals at Yashoda Hospital, conducted the surgery. In a statement released Friday night, the hospital reported that K Chandrashekar Rao “has undergone the planned operation of left Total Hip Replacement.” Importantly, the statement emphasized that he “tolerated the surgery well & was stable hemodynamically throughout the procedure.”
“Post-surgery, (KCR) K Chandrashekar Rao was shifted to a room for recuperation. The standard recovery period for such surgeries is anticipated to be six to eight weeks. The hospital assured that Rao is receiving routine post-operative care, including intravenous fluids, prophylactic antibiotics, and pain medication. Plans for ambulation, physiotherapy, and nutrition will be tailored based on assessments scheduled for Saturday”.
Widespread concern and well-wishes have been expressed by political leaders across party lines. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Minister and State BJP President G Kishan Reddy, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, TDP Chief N Chandrababu Naidu, and other prominent leaders have conveyed their concerns and wished KCR a speedy recovery.
“K Chandrashekar Rao, the driving force behind the formation of the separate state of Telangana in 2014, has been a key political figure in the region. His health has been a matter of public concern, and the successful completion of the hip replacement surgery brings a sigh of relief to well-wishers”.
As the former Chief Minister takes the path of recovery, the coming weeks will be crucial for his rehabilitation. The outpouring of support from political figures underscores the significance of KCR’s role in the political landscape of Telangana. The nation will be keenly watching for updates on his recovery, hopeful for his swift return to health and political life.
