The overseas market for South Indian cinema has witnessed a significant surge in popularity, thanks to blockbuster releases such as ‘KGF,’ ‘Pushpa,’ and ‘Jailer,’ among others. Movie enthusiasts residing abroad are eagerly awaiting the release of Thalapathy Vijay’s upcoming Tamil film, ‘Leo: Bloody Sweet.’ The film’s advance ticket bookings in the UK have already hinted at a grand opening.
‘Leo’ has not only generated immense anticipation but has also shattered records in advance booking, surpassing the previous record held by Mani Ratnam’s ‘Ponniyin Selvan I.’ This film marks the reunion of Vijay and filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj after their 2021 blockbuster collaboration, ‘Master.’
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared insights into the advance booking of ‘Leo’ in the UK. In a post on X, he wrote, “VIJAY: ‘LEO’ SETTING NEW BENCHMARKS… Thalapathy Vijay’s Leo is SHATTERING RECORDS Overseas. Distributed in the UK and Europe by Ahimsa Entertainment, with 19 days left, the film has already taken the Tamil Day”.
About ‘Leo’:
‘Leo’ is set to make its global theatrical release on October 19. This highly anticipated film stars Vijay and Trisha in lead roles, alongside renowned actors such as Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Sarja, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Mansoor Ali Khan, and Mysskin.
The film was officially announced in January 2023 with the tentative title ‘Thalapathy 67,’ signifying Vijay’s 67th appearance as a lead actor. In addition to its Tamil release, ‘Leo’ is expected to hit the screens in various dubbed versions, including Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi languages. The film’s global release is anticipated to be a momentous event for Thalapathy Vijay’s dedicated fan base around the world.
