The video, initially shared on X (formerly Twitter) by user Saloni, features the two Valak-nun-clad dancers amid a traditional Navaratri gathering. They energetically danced alongside others adorned in traditional attire, leaving onlookers amused and baffled by this unusual sight.
Debate Over Tradition and Respect
A significant portion of netizens raised concerns about the display, suggesting that it showed disrespect towards Goddess Durga. Garba is traditionally performed as an act of devotion to the Goddess, and for some, this performance was seen as a mockery.
One user shared their sentiment, remarking, “Garba is a celebration to dance and please Goddess Durga, not Halloween. It seemed as if people had lost their way.”
